  1. The Sky's Gone Out was released in October by the record label Beggars Banquet. It featured a cover of Brian Eno's "Third Uncle", a new recording of "Spirit", and experiments with ballads, disco, ska and reggae. The initial limited edition included the live album Press the Eject and Give Me the Tape as a bonus. The compact disc reissue dropped the run-out speech from the final track "Exquisite Corpse" Genre: Gothic rock.

  4. Before I begin; one thing about Bauhaus -unlike some groups- I can listen, and enjoy the entire album. I have Vol.1 , Mask, The Flat Field, and(of course, recently) The Sky's Gone Out. And what a great addition to my collection, I must say. Now I'm not going to go off tangents about every song, but there are two that I will mention/5(61).
  5. Old, pre-recording-career songs like the strong but already dated "In the Night" were revived and balanced against experiments and attempts to further develop the band's sound, ultimately making The Sky's Gone Out feel more like a compilation than anything else. Piece by piece, though, the songs still often showed Bauhaus in excelsis.
